RE: Using on-board washing machines

If you are asking about Majestic stackable units, they are very poor quality. I know several people who had them and every one failed within months. They replaced the Majestics with separate Whirlpool or Sears washers and dryers and now are happy campers.

RE: Just Polished the Wheels

Norm and Jerry,
From what I have been able to find out, the wheels that are stamped ACCURIDE are not coated. Wheels made by them that are coated are named ACCU-SHIELD.
You are correct. I just looked at the wheels on my 2005 Dutch Star and there is a label on each wheel.
ACCURIDE
Accu-Shield

RE: Just Polished the Wheels

Jerry, did your 2004 Dutch Star come with aluminum wheels or did you add them? I thought the Dutch Stars come with Accuride aluminum wheels that are coated so they only need to be cleaned with soap and water.

RE: GM in Preliminary Talks With Chrysler

Plus a merge of Jeep and Hummer may make sense (if it's not too late). No more arguing over how many vertical bars in the radiator grille!
Jeep sales were down 42.8% last month and Hummer sales were down 54.8%. Both have been losing market share big time.

RE: Changing Banks when changing residency

Before we retired we lived in Kentucky and had banking accounts in two other states. Our domicile since 1999 has been Texas and we still have those accounts in other states. Our bank statements (online), credit and debit cards all show our Texas address as does our checks.
In this day of internet banking and having banks that cross state lines, it makes no difference where you bank.

RE: NADA Dealer Cost

WOW WOW WOW NORN you do belong in the book of records!!!! WOW WOW you do really live up to your last name PAYNE or should be spelled PAIN I really can not believe anyone would spend that much time at a dealership! We should all know what dealership put up with you that long they deserve alot of credit. You earlier posts are really worth reading and now by this post you just did you are trying to make me believe I can buy the Allegro for around 120,000 it must cost the dealer at least 150,000 that would only be a 30,000 loss andthen put up with you for 6 days no way nough!! rvtommy
Since the OP asked for the wholesale price I assumed it is a used motorhome and I gave the figures for a used one. Of course, if it is new with a full warranty the value will be much higher.

RE: How long should Walk thru at dealership take for inspecting?

Our first motorhome took about four hours to check everything out. By the time we bought the second motorhome the inspection and check out took three days. Inspecting the roof took about an hour and checking everything under the chassis took over two hours. We cooked a meal, took showers, removed every drawn and inspected them and behind the drawers - a total check out of everything.
A technician checked in every morning and repaired any problems we found. On day number four we signed the papers and on day number six we left the dealer's camping area.

RE: Good Cummins Coach Care experience

I have always had good service at Coach Care, but my brother-in-law had a bad experience at Coach Care in Elkhart, Indiana last month. He had the engine oil and filter changed and the chassis lubed. After paying he started the engine and noticed no oil pressure so he shut the engine down. They had forgotten to put oil in the engine - not good. This was their excuse. Due to a slow down in business they had laid off some technicians and a man from their parts room was doing service.
He went to Cummins Coach Care to get service by a qualified technician and instead got service from a parts room worker who forgot to add oil. Oh, he also missed some of the Zerks when he lubed the chassis.

RE: After differential oil change, question?

Once you fill the rear differential there is no need to check the level unless you find a leak.

RE: Replacing Manual Awning with Power Awning

We love our power patio awning, but we don't have a slideout on that side. Our awning drops to 6 1/2 feet off the ground so water drains right off. If we had a slideout the awning would go straight out and cause problems with water pooling and wind damage. After having a power awning I will never go back to a manual awning.

RE: Low ball trade-in from dealers.

I have bought two motorhomes from a large dealer and I am friends with a salesman and the sales manager. At this time they don't want any trade ins because they have a lot full of used motorhomes they can't sell. Most of their used motorhomes have been sitting on the lot over a year. They also told me wholesellers don't want them because they can't sell them either. So this dealer is stuck with a lot of rotting motorhomes and they don't want any more used motorhomes. This is a VERY BAD time to trade in a motorhome.

RE: Black Tank Additives

I have been RVing since 1972 and fulltiming the last nine years. I have never used chemicals or anything in the black tank other than water and so far, after 36 years, I have not had any problems or odors.

RE: Motorhome manueverability

My 38' motorhome had a 45 degree cut and my 41' motorhome has a 55 degree cut. I can park the longer motorhome in places the shorter one would not fit. I find this motorhome very easy to drive and park.

RE: Carpet Replacement Recommendations-Dutch Star

Jim, you can call Newmar and talk to Phil Stilley to get an estimate. They will replace the carpet with any floor covering you want. Your quad slides will make the job harder and the rollers under the slideouts may have to be replace with a different sizes.

RE: Tow Truck cost for a Motorhome.

Towing my 40' motorhome 90 miles cost $650 and Coach Net paid the entire bill. A friend had his 38' motorhome towed 150 miles (he was in the boonies) and it cost $950 which CAT paid under warranty.

RE: Vent Pipe Venturi Idea

I agree with Robert H, your motorhome has a problem that needs to be fixed. There is no way an odor can enter the motorhome since the black tank is sealed to the inside of the motorhome. I have owned three RVs and fulltimed the last 9+ years and have never had an odor in the RV.
